Momentum to win the freedom to marry continues to grow! A new poll released today by Public Policy Polling shows that a supermajority of Rhode Islanders -- 57% -- support marriage equality, outnumbering opponents by a 21-point margin. Our Campaign Director Ray Sullivan issued this statement in response:

“The poll released today by Public Policy Polling finding 57 percent of Rhode Islanders want to extend the unique protection and recognition of marriage to all Ocean State families mirrors the strong support our grassroots campaign has been hearing for months now,” said Ray Sullivan, Rhode Islanders United for Marriage campaign director. “Support for marriage equality is strong and growing every day, as we tell the stories of our friends and neighbors who are unfairly unable to access the rights and benefits marriage bestows. Our broad coalition of organizations supporting equality looks forward to continuing to tell those stories and fight for all Rhode Island families.”

Public Policy Polling conducted the automated telephone survey of 614 Rhode Island voters from January 28 - 30. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
